PRODUCER
AND CONFERENCE EXEC JOINS ICE MANAGEMENT TEAM
Toronto, January 18, 2007 - The New Media Business Alliance
(NMBA) is pleased to announce today that Kim Gertler, former Executive
Producer of nextMedia, has joined the ICE 07 team as Director of Production.
In this role, Gertler will bring his extensive expertise to the creation
of the new ICE Marketplace, an international Interactive Media partnering
forum and showcase, which will take place alongside the ICE 2007 Conference
March 21st and 22nd at the Carlu in Toronto.
Recently, Gertler held the position of Executive Producer
(2005, 2006) for nextMEDIA, an interactive media festival based in Banff,
Alberta, helping to transform it into a major international event.
Kim joins Alan Sawyer, author of the 2006 report "The End Of Television
As We Know It", who is ICE 2007 Director of Conference Programming.
“
I am thrilled to be joining Ian and Alan and their talented
team to help make ICE 2007 the best event of its kind in the world," says
Gertler. "I am particularly excited by the new market aspect this
year -- a new venue for Canadian producers to come to learn but also
to share their innovations with multiplatform media buyers from around
the globe.”
Creating content for digital/new media since 1994, Kim has
credits as a webcaster, writer and blogger for CBC.CA, (including working
on websites for the Federal Election and the Olympics) Learning Television
Alberta, TIFF, Hot Docs, the Toronto Worldwide Short Film Festival and
the Virtual Film Festival.
"
Kim's experience and reputation as a producer, journalist
and multi-platform media specialist makes him a very strong addition
to our ICE management team." says Ian Kelso, President of the New
Media Business Alliance and Executive Producer of ICE 2007. "Alan
and Kim's talents very much compliment each other."
Sawyer currently runs the independent consultancy Two Solitudes
and is a widely sought-after speaker and commentator in his own right.
"
As a panelist and attendee at NMBA's inaugural iSUMMIT conference
last year, I saw first hand what a well designed and diverse program
had been put together -- and was impressed by the top-notch execution
of the conference overall," says Alan. "I'm thrilled to have
the opportunity to build on last year's success and to incorporate the
feedback received last year to make this an even better experience for
the delegates."
ICE: Interactive Content Exchange is an international conference
and market that explores emerging opportunities for content on interactive
platforms. Currently in its second year, in 2006 ICE iSummit attracted
over 300 executives and entrepreneurs from around the world.
ICE is produced by the New Media Business Alliance, the trade
association for interactive digital media content production companies
in Ontario.
ICE 2007 is presented with the support of: the Department
of Canadian Heritage through Telefilm Canada's Canada New Media Fund;
the Ontario Media Development Corporation; and, the Bell Broadcast and
New Media Fund.
ICE 2007 takes place March 21 to 22, 2007 at the Carlu in
